6:00 AM, Florida Canyon Bird Walk - Sign-Up Required
(Bring sack lunch for trail picnic)

Limit: 12; Cost: free; Meet at junction of White House Canyon Rd. & Box Canyon Rd.
Description: Birding the riparian corridor of lower Florida Canyon. Approx. 2 miles roundtrip; moderate hiking on uneven ground w/ elevation gain and rocky stream crossings; bring lunch, water, good hiking shoes, binoculars, sunscreen & sun hat. Optional: hand-held camera & walking stick.
Target: Black-capped Gnatcatcher, Rock & Canyon Wren, Black-chinned Sparrow, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, possible Montezuma Quail.
7:00 AM, Madera Canyon: Grassland & Proctor Rd. Birding - Sign-Up Required

Limit: 8; Cost: free; Meet at junction of White House Canyon Rd. & Box Canyon Rd. (Group will carpool in a maximum of 3 vehicles)
Description: Checkout the birds in the grasslands below Proctor Parking Area from Florida Wash to Proctor Rd. Then walk the Proctor Trail to and down Proctor Rd. in search of migrant and early breeding species. Participants must be able to walk and stand for approximately 2 hrs. (no benches for sitting once group leaves vehicles). Bring water, good hiking shoes, sunscreen, sun hat & trail snacks. Optional: spotting scope w/ tripod (grasslands only- no tripod on walk), hand-held camera (activity is not a photography trip) & walking stick

Description: Birding up the lower Carrie Nation Trail for resident, migrant and early breeding birds. Approx. 2 miles roundtrip; moderate hiking on uneven ground w/ elevation gain and rocky stream crossings; bring water, good hiking shoes, binoculars, sunscreen, sun hat & trail snacks. Optional: hand-held camera (activity is not a photography trip) & walking stick

Whitehouse Nature Loop Birding/Nature Walks - Four Walks, NO Sign-Up Required

Limit: open; Cost: free; Meet at Whitehouse Trailhead at Whitehouse Picnic Area.
Description: Free hourly walks birding and nature viewing on Whitehouse Nature Loop Trail looking for resident, migrant and early breeding birds and canyon nature. Approx. ¾ mile roundtrip; easy hiking with some elevation loss on paved accessible trail with short detour with stairs down to stream bridge; bring water, good hiking shoes, binoculars, sunscreen, sunhat & trail snacks. Optional: hand-held camera & walking stick

Birding with Tucson Audubon Society (TAS) at Santa Rita Lodge
Birding, kid's birding activities, TAS and AZ birding information & merchandise table with TAS volunteers at the Santa Rita Lodge hummingbird & bird feeders. Madera Canyon & nature gifts, beverages, snacks & food available at Santa Rita Lodge giftshop.
Live Reptile Presentaton at Whitehouse Ramada
Presented by the Tucson Herpetological Society. Cost is free with donations accepted.

Arizona Native Plant Society, Friends of Madera Canyon, Friends of Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, Hummingbird Monitoring Network, Save the Scenic Santa Ritas, Tucson Herpetological Society & United States Forest Service.

Bird watching at feeders at Madera Kubo B&B (parking @ Amphitheater Parking Area) and Chuparosa Inn (parking @ Mt.Wrightson Picnic/Parking Area).
Bud Gode Interpretive Nature Trail (BGINT): Madera Canyon interpretive exhibits at Proctor, White House, Madera, Amphitheater & Mt. Wrightson Parking Areas in the canyon (see Proctor BGINT Ramada for site map)
Madera Canyon Recreation Areas: Picnic Areas (except Whitehouse Ramada) & trails are open for recreation: birding, nature viewing, hiking and picnicking.
Bog Spring Campground is open for camping with regular camping fees required
