Monsoon season

Be Monsoon Aware!

July 27, 2026

Monsoon thunderstorms often build quickly & produce heavy local rain & lightening. Conditions can change very quickly!
In Madera Canyon storms often build out of sight on the east side of the Santa Ritas & drift over the SR Crest ridge into the canyon very quickly!
Watch your weather forecast closely. Hike early in the day; return to vehicle if clouds build. Carry a rain jacket or poncho to avoid becoming wet & cold in the upper canyon- hypothermia is no joke!
