Photographer's Rights

Photographer retains all copyright privileges for any submitted Photograph. By submitting his/her Photograph(s) , Photographer grants to the Friends of Madera Canyon a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to copy, reproduce or otherwise use the Photograph and derivative works there from for noncommercial publicity, educational, and marketing for promoting the Friends of Madera Canyon, including specifically (but not limited to): Print and digital communications, websites, handouts, brochures, labels, postcards, magazines, journals, and newspapers .

To transmit or otherwise communicate or display Photograph by means of any device, process, or medium (e.g., slides, film, television, electronic, or other formats).

In its use in connection with this POM , the Friends of Madera Canyon may use the Photographer's name, city, state, and country of residence in promotions and other publications. The FoMC will keep the files provided, and archive the Photographs on CD or in other electronic forms so that they can be properly credited. As a condition of this permission and license, the FoMC shall credit all photographs with the Photographer's name.

FoMC is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, or misdirected entries or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions, or other errors of any kind whether human or electronic in the POM entry process.

By entering, Photographers release and hold harmless the FoMC, as well as their directors and employees.

If a Photographer chooses to include people in her/his submission, s/he is responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases upon request.

Rules for Entry

1. A photo must be taken within Madera Canyon
2. A photo must be taken within the designated time period of the POM
3. The current POM time period is 12 months. The photo will go into the POM of the month it is submitted
4. One person can submit (every month) up to three photos for a POM .
5. Photos remain the property of the photographer, but by submitting them the photographer gives the FoMC a media release to use the photo in any of its printed publications or online accounts
6. If a Photographer chooses to include people in her/his submission, s/he is responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases upon request.
7. Submitted photos should be jpegs or HEIC of at least 500 pixels on the long side. Photos should have a title.
8. When submitting a photo, do not exclude the EXIFS (see https://photographylife.com/what-is-exif-data)
9. Photos will be displayed on Flickr with the title and the artist’s name.
10. Photos can be edited in any manner; eg, not at all, simple crop, tone adjustments, HDR, composites, advanced editing with Photoshop or other software like Topaz. Elements of the photo may be removed, or replaced, or added. There are no limits on image postprocessing. Edit to your tastes.
11. Any composite photo must have all elements taken by the same photographer, with the same camera, and within the time period of the challenge. Honesty is assumed. No AI elements are permitted.
